For this week’s Digi Choosday challenge, the Design Team prompt is Spring Male Birthday, and I had so much fun creating this playful card featuring Horace and Boo! I decided to make a fun fold card that looks a little fancy but is actually super easy to put together. It’s one of those designs that gives you that “wow” factor without the stress and of course, we love that!
I used Horace and Boo Surprise Cake digi stamp and paired it with bright, cheerful patterned paper from the Gnome Men Football USA collection. The result is a fun, interactive pinwheel reveal card that’s perfect for a birthday surprise.

How to Make It
Start by preparing your digi stamp. I colored Horace and Boo Surprise Cake using Ohuhu Colored Pencils. I like using colored pencils when the details of a digi are small since it's easier to fill out and doest blot or spread like markers.
Trim your patterned paper to 6x6 inches. Double-sided designs work best for this fold. Score at 1.5 inches on all four sides, then cut along the square corners using the score lines as your guide.
Fold each panel inward and check if any sides overlap or block the folds. If they do, just trim slightly until everything folds nicely.
Next, fold each corner inward to create your pinwheel reveal mechanism. Once all corners are folded, tuck them into each other to close the piece - this creates that fun interactive opening!
For the card base, cut white cardstock to 8.5 x 5.5 inches and score at 4.25 inches to fold in half.
Prepare your layers:
One plain solid cardstock at 3.25 x 3.25 inches
One solid plain cardstock at 4.25 x 5.5 inches
One white cardstock at 4 x 5.25 inches
Now it’s time to assemble:
Glue your colored digi inside the pinwheel reveal piece
Attach the pinwheel to the 3.25 square cardstock
Layer the 4 x 5.25 white cardstock onto the 4.25 x 5.5 solid cardstock
Attach your pinwheel piece on top of this panel
Add your sentiment just below using foam tape for dimension
Finally, attach everything to your card base
I honestly loved it as is but adding a few enamel dots gave it that extra polished touch!
And that’s it! See? Not as complicated as it looks, right? π
