Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Project | Sunshine Landscape Card

When I first saw this week’s Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Design Team prompt, “Landscape Card,” I had a bit of a dilemma. Did it mean a card in landscape orientation, or did it mean a landscape scene design? To be honest, I wasn’t entirely sure!

I wanted to get started on my project right away instead of waiting to ask Nikky or the rest of the Design Team for clarification, so I decided to cover both possibilities and create a landscape scene on a landscape-oriented card. Problem solved! Haha!

For this cute and cheerful card, I used Sunshine Delight Cutest Winnie digi stamp and colored her with my Ohuhu alcohol markers. Looking back, I’m actually glad I wasn’t sure about the prompt because it encouraged me to pull out some dies that hadn’t seen much use lately. It also gave me the perfect excuse to reach for one of my favorite crafty staples - a Distress Oxide ink pad!

Materials Used

  • Sunshine Delight Cutest Winnie Digi Stamp
  • Rose digi stamps from the Winnie Sugar Sprinkles Bundle
  • Ohuhu Alcohol Markers
  • Distress Oxide Ink Pad in Stormy Sky
  • Blending Brush
  • Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud Border Dies
  • Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillside Borders Dies
  • Craft Buddy Die Cutting Machine
  • Plain Colored Cardstock - green and something you can use for the sky. I used light blue-grey cardstock I got from my scraps.
  • White Cardstock
  • Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue
  • “You Are My Sunshine” sentiment from Spring Tons of Love Sentiment Pack

Instructions

1. Prepare your card base measuring 5.5” x 8.5” and score at 4.25” on the long side.

2. Create your clouds by die-cutting a light blue-grey piece of cardstock using the Puffy Cloud Border dies.

3. Trim the cloud panel to 5.5” in length and blend Distress Oxide Ink in Stormy Sky around the edges.

4. Create your grass layers using two shades of green cardstock. Trim them to 5.5” in length and die-cut them using the Grassy Hillside Borders dies.

5. Cut a piece of white cardstock measuring 5.5” x 4.25”. I like assembling my scene on this panel first before adhering it to the card base. Blend Stormy Sky ink across the upper portion of the panel to create the sky.

6. Adhere the cloud layers over the inked background, then add the grassy layers to build your landscape scene.

7. Print and color the Sunshine Delight Cutest Winnie digi stamp with Ohuhu alcohol markers.

8. Adhere Winnie to the scene using foam tape for added dimension. Add the rose digi stamps around the card, mixing flat and foam-mounted elements for extra depth.

9. Add your sentiment. I used the “You Are My Sunshine” sentiment from Spring Tons of Love.

10. Adhere your landscape design to your card base.

I love how this card came together with its soft sky, layered grassy hills, and sweet sunshine-themed sentiment. The combination of die-cut elements, ink blending, and dimensional embellishments creates a fun little outdoor scene for Winnie to enjoy. Sometimes a little uncertainty can lead to a creative result, and in this case, it encouraged me to use some neglected supplies and try something a little different.
