For this week’s Digi Choosday challenge, our DT prompt was to make a gift that holds chocolate — and here’s project 1 of 2!
I made this diagonal lid gift box, made extra special with a glittered poinsettia embellishment and the adorable Beary Christmas Topper Sheet from Polkadoodles.
This box is the perfect size for small chocolates or other small treats — a thoughtful handmade touch for your holiday gifting! After I made these boxes, I really thought to myself - I wouldn't mind receiving this for Christmas!

Instructions
Cut 2 pcs of pattern paper at 6 7/8” x 4 1/8”.
For this project, I used Polkadoodles Icy Winter Papers Set 2 – Theo Penguin.
Score each piece at 1 3/8” on the short side and 2 3/4” on the long side.
Flip and score 2 3/4” on the other long side as well.
Tip: If using directional paper, score the 1 3/8” on the opposite side of your first design panel.

Flip and score 2 3/4” on the other long side
Tip: If using directional paper, score the 1 3/8” on the opposite side of your first design panel. (check how I scored on the first photo) Cut a solid cardstock base to 5 3/8” x 5 3/8” and score at 1 5/16” on all sides.
Create tabs by cutting the square scoreline on each corner, then trim each corner tab diagonally.
Fold along the scorelines and glue each tab to form your box base.
For the pattern paper lids, cut the middle rectangular scoreline on each and make diagonal cuts to create tabs.
Fold both sides inward to form a triangle shape (just like making a paper airplane) and glue them down.
Assemble your diagonal lids by gluing the tabs carefully so they align neatly in the middle.
Decorate your box!
I used the Beary Christmas Topper Sheet and fussy cut three cute bear designs.
Each box was finished with a glittered poinsettia made using Lawn Fawn Stitched Poinsettia Lawn Cuts Dies.
Glue the embellishment only on one side of the diagonal lid so the box can still open easily.
Optional: Add a Velcro dot on the opposite side of the poinsettia to help the lid stay closed — it gives a nice finished look and keeps your treats secure.
Add chocolates, candies, or small gifts — and you’ve got a handmade present that’s sure to make anyone smile!
This project is a great way to combine festive crafting with thoughtful gifting this holiday season.
Join the fun!

Yes, I myself wouldn't mind either receiving this for Christmas or any other occasion. Receiving a box is intriguing; it piques one's curiosity. What's more special than the chocolates inside is the box itself- cute, stylish and unique.
