Why You Deserve a Spot in Your Own Scrapbook
Five years ago, during the height of the pandemic, I signed up for an online crafting class that changed the way I look at memory keeping. The focus of the class? You. Not your kids, not your spouse, not your friends—you. It was such a refreshing idea that I couldn’t resist, and it has stayed with me ever since.
We, as memory keepers, often focus so much on documenting the people we love—our children, partners, parents, friends—that we forget to include ourselves. But someday, your loved ones will want to remember you, too. And more importantly, you deserve to be seen, celebrated, and remembered in your own story.
That class included a project I’ll never forget: a mini album all about ME. Photos of me, little journaling snippets about how I was feeling, what I was enjoying at the time, and small moments that meant something to me. It was my first time creating something so personal, and I was just beginning my journey into papercrafting. That first album holds a special place in my heart. Though I am yet to do a little journaling in my albums, I'm sharing the photos here.
Fast forward to now, five years later, and I just completed another one. This time, I created it as a one-day project for Mintay Paper’s International Scrapbook Day. It features photos that make me feel pretty or bring back sweet memories—most of them captured lovingly by my husband. It’s simple, heartfelt, and very me.
I plan to keep this going—to create a new “ME album” every few years. It doesn’t need to be big or fancy. Just a few photos, a few stories, and a whole lot of you.
If you’ve never done this, I highly encourage you to give it a try. The response I got from a handful of friends and fellow crafters reminded me that this idea resonates. Because we matter too. You matter too.
So go ahead—scrapbook you.

I love you superduper much sis!
