Meet Lucky:
Every craft I make is made with love — and often under the curious supervision of one very special cat: Lucky.
Lucky was born on September 1, 2020, to a sweet mama cat named Lucy, alongside two siblings in a tiny litter of three. Back then, they were known as Eenie (now Lucky), Meenie, and Miny. But life took a tough turn early on. Little Miny passed away just days after birth, and heartbreak followed when their mom, Lucy (our first cat), died on October 7 — just one month and six days after giving birth.
Suddenly, the two remaining kittens were orphaned. I remember crying on the floor, grieving the death of our 7yo cat while holding 2 meowing cats who were hungry (and probably crying because of sadness too!).
That’s when my husband and I stepped in, bottle-feeding them every five hours with goat milk, determined to keep them going. Sadly, Meenie passed away too, just five days later. We were left with one fragile little life — a tiny kitten we now call Lucky.
And lucky he truly is.
Despite all odds, Lucky grew strong. He came with us everywhere, even living in a hotel during the pandemic — with air conditioning and cuddles 24/7, and a growing list of spoiled-cat privileges. In fact, he was so pampered that my husband once taught him how to drink water by placing two bowls on the floor and drinking from one on all fours just to show him how it’s done. It worked!
Lucky also “grew up” during the time of endless online meetings. Thanks to that, he now insists on being part of any video call or even a phone call on speaker. If you’re talking, he thinks he’s invited.
In 2022, we fixed all his documents, updated his vaccines, and brought him with us on a big move to Saudi Arabia. (Note to self: blog about process and requirements in bringing a pet from the Philippines to Saudi) He’s been on three plane rides and handles them like a pro. He’s also incredibly vet-friendly — he's actually braver than me! Multiple shots in one visit? No problem. Not even a flinch. Well, maybe just a flinch.
But don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s fearless. For some reason, grass absolutely terrifies him. Cats, too. Despite being a cat himself, he’s way more comfortable around dogs. He “grew up” alongside my in-laws’ two dogs, so he’s cool with them — but a fellow feline? Nope. Not interested. Weird, right?
Today, Lucky is a soft, purring source of happiness in our home and the unofficial mascot of “My Cat and Crafts.” You’ll see his face pop up often in my posts — usually mid-nap or curious about my latest project.
And if you’d like to follow more of his daily antics, cat naps, and those big round eyes, you can find him on Instagram at @Lucky1cat. He’d love the extra attention — and honestly, he already thinks he’s famous.
