This week’s Digi Choosday challenge was to make three tags—and I couldn’t resist turning mine into extra and cute shaker tags with a twist!
Instead of using clear acetate, I opted for vellum paper to create a soft, translucent layer that lets the background pattern papers peek through subtly while still allowing the floral shaker bits to shine. I love how the vellum keeps the design soft and doesn’t overpower the embellishments.
Since it’s been a hectic day, I added a little paper stitching around the edges for a therapeutic touch while catching up on my favorite Netflix shows. Crafting and stitching truly go hand-in-hand for me! I enjoy stitching my projects because the effect is pretty plus the stitching itself is therapeutic for me.
Materials Used:
Curious Vellum
Digi Stamp: Polkadoodles Flower Fairy Winnie Daisy
Pattern Paper: Polkadoodles Winnie Sunshine Delights
Sentiment: Polkadoodles Spring Tons of Love Greetings
Ohuhu Alcohol Markers: G020, GY6, Y3, R18, Y4, Y10, YR3, BG4, PB7, Y1, GY4, GY3
Ohuhu Gel Ink Pen (white)
Needle and thread
Shaker bits
Surebonder Glue Gun
Bearly Art Precision Glue
Cutterpillar Pro Paper Trimmer
Cutterpillar Crease Score Board
Sizzix Big Shot
Tag die
Brush and Pick (or foam + piercing tool)
Ribbons and trims
Foam sheet
Instructions:
Die cut three tags using your patterned papers.
Cut three more tags from vellum—same size.
Using a foam pad underneath, poke stitching holes ¼ inch apart around the tag edges.
Stitch around the tags using a backstitch, leaving one side open.
Add your shaker bits, then stitch the tag completely shut.
Color your Flower Fairy Winnie Daisy and prepare your floral ephemera (I used pre-colored flowers and leaves that came with the set).
Print and cut your sentiments.
Layer and arrange your embellishments and sentiments on the tags until you’re happy with the look.
Use Bearly Art Glue or hot glue to adhere everything in place.
Add ribbons and trims to finish!
