Digi Choosday Project - Ringing in the New Year with a Sparkly Shaker Card

It’s the start of something new — and what better way to welcome 2026 than with sparkle, glitter, and a fun shaker card! For this week’s Digi Choosday challenge, our DT prompt was “New Year,” and I decided to make a window shaker card featuring the adorable Winnie Celebrations – Anniversary digital stamp. (Yes anniversary! Polkadoodles digi stamps are versatile!)

This card is actually pretty easy to make, especially if you have a Cricut! I created a Cricut template that you can use — check it out here! 

But don’t worry if you’re making it by hand, I’ve also included measurements below.

Materials Used

• Cricut Maker

• Plain cardstock (for the base)

• Pattern paper – I used Polkadoodles Rebel Pretty Printable Craft Paper Patterns 

• Digi Stamp – Winnie Celebrations – Anniversary 

• Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue

• Foam tape

• Acetate sheets

• Shaker bits / sequins

• Glitter cardstock

• Ohuhu Alcohol Markers

Instructions

Using a Cricut:

1. Cut each piece of the card using your Cricut. (Design emplate available here.)

   
   
   
   

2. Assemble the layers:

   • Glue the glitter border to the middle of the pattern paper border.

     
     
     
     

   • Glue the numbers to the outline, then attach the “2026” outline to the top of the border.

     
     
     
     

3. Adhere acetate:

   
   
   
   
   
   

   • One acetate piece goes at the back of the pattern paper border.

   • The second acetate goes inside the card base to close the window.

4. Add shaker elements:

   
   
   
   
   
   
   

   • Line the window with foam tape.

   • Add your sequins or shaker bits inside.

   • Seal by adhering the patterned paper panel to the card front.

     
     
     
     
     
     
     

5. Color your digi stamp with Ohuhu markers (colors used: WG050, WG01, WG3, WG4, YR00, G41, YG312, BG21, BG09, BG19, BG011, RV23, Y215, Y34, Y59).

   
   
   
   
   
   
   

6. Attach the colored image to your card with foam tape for added dimension.

Manual Cutting Measurements

If you don’t have a Cricut, here’s how to make it manually:

• Card base (solid cardstock): 8.5” x 5.5”, score at 4.25” on the long side

• Border (pattern paper): 4” x 5.25”; cut a window in the middle, leaving a ¾” border

• Glitter border: 2.75” x 4.25”; cut the inside to leave a ¼” wide frame
