Digi Choosday Project - Birthday Shaker Tags — Cute, Colorful & oh-so-Shaky!

Today I’m sharing a set of birthday-themed shaker tags I made using the Party Bear with Cupcake digi. I’ve been loving shakers lately, so of course… I made three! These turned out so cute and sweet, and the best part? They’re really simple to put together.

Let’s Make Some Shaker Tags!

Materials Needed:
  • Die cutting machine
  • Tag die
  • Rectangle die
  • Pattern Paper - I used Polkadoodles' Noodle Panda
  • Digi Stamp - I used Polkadoodles' Party Bear with Cupcake
  • Shaker Bits
  • Acetate
  • Foam Tape
  • Ribbon
  • We R Memory Keeper Crop-a-dile
  • Bearly Art Glue

First things first, prepare your tag bases by choosing your patterned papers. You can totally use solid cardstock, but since I’m all about color, I reached for patterned ones instead.

Next:

  1. Die cut the back tag bases using your favorite tag die.

  2. Die cut the front pieces using the same tag die plus a rectangle die to create the window.

  3. Die cut acetate using the tag die as well, this makes everything line up perfectly.

Assembly Time!

For these shaker tags, I used the Bearly Art Cubies Starter Pack Craft Adhesive Foam Tape Extra Tall. This is my go-to for shakers because the extra height gives the shaker bits so much room to bounce and shake around!

Here’s what I did:

  • Adhered the acetate to the front tag piece.

  • Added foam tape all around the edges.

  • Poured the shaker bits onto the back tag base, I used colorful sprinkle-style pieces with stars to match the cupcake on the digi.

  • Carefully placed the front piece over the back to seal everything in place. Shaker magic activated!

Time for the Cute Details

I picked the Party Bear with Cupcake digi stamp (colored version!), so no need to color this time. Then I chose sentiments from the Wanda Messages & Quotes collection and layered them together with the bear using glue.

Since the tag die I used didn’t have a big enough hole, I grabbed my We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile to make a slightly larger one for ribbons.

I threaded my ribbons through…

And because I can get a bit OC, I burned the ends so they wouldn’t fray.

And that’s it! Super cute shaker tags ready to make any birthday extra special!

  1. Reading the tutorial on how to make the shaker tags I was amazed that the finished product looks complicated to make but you are correct in saying these shaker tags are so easy to make.
Shaker tags can be used as gift tags, party favor souvenirs, even a Christmas tree ornament.
