Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Project | Shape Up! Honeypie Embellishment Clusters / Tags

This week’s Digi Choosday DT prompt is Shape Up!, and we were also asked to use Honeypie. While Honeypie isn’t exactly the most sporty character in the Polkadoodles lineup, she is definitely one of the cutest—so I decided to lean into that and create cute embellishment clusters featuring different Honeypie digi stamps.

As you may have noticed, I really enjoy layering different media when I create, and this project was perfect for that. Mixing shapes, papers, trims, and embellishments allowed me to play around and build soft, dimensional clusters that can be used in so many ways.

A little first for me ๐Ÿ’—

This project is extra special because it marks a first—it’s my very first Digi Choosday project where I colored my digis using colored pencils!

I recently picked up a set of Ohuhu Halawa oil-based colored pencils (a 72-color set ๐Ÿ‘€) while I was in Manila. I’ve been eyeing them for a while, and on our last day, I finally gave in during a visit to Bee Happy store. I’m so glad I did!

Because the digis I used were sized slightly smaller than my usual, colored pencils worked beautifully. I didn’t have to worry about colors bleeding outside the lines (which sometimes happens with alcohol markers), and blending was surprisingly smooth and easy. Having a wide color range also made it extra fun to experiment.

Other Supplies

  • Glue gun

  • Bearly Art Precision Glue

  • Die cutting machine

  • Nesting dies in different shapes

  • Ohuhu Halawa colored pencils

  • Foam tape

  • Assorted embellishments: flowers, gem stickers, trims, ribbons, pearl stickers

How I Made the Embellishment Clusters

  1. Prepare and print your digi stamps.

  2. Color your digis, I used Ohuhu colored pencils for this project.

  3. Choose your pattern paper for the cluster base. I used Plain Janes - Wanda, which is subtle and not too busy and is almost plain.

  4. Pick your nesting dies and decide which digi goes with which paper and shape.

  5. Add trims to your base layers.

  6. Adhere the digi stamp using foam tape so it’s raised and easy to tuck embellishments underneath.

  7. Add floral embellishments.

  8. Layer in strips of pattern paper scraps (I used Wanda Set 3).

  9. Add more trims for texture.

  10. Finish with pearl stickers, gems, and a small tag.

And that’s it! These clusters are perfect as gift tagscard embellishments, or even scrapbook accents.

๐Ÿ’Œ Don’t forget — Digi Choosday is an Anything Goes challenge, so feel free to join in and share your creations using Polkadoodles digi stamps. I’d love to see what you make!

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy crafting ๐Ÿ’•

  2. Earlier today I was looking for something in my cabinet and saw the card you gave me last Christmas. The pearl embellishment caught my attention and even wondered where on earth do you get these amazing designs. What a coincidence that your Honeypie Cluster which put me in awe has the same materials. All your projects be it a greeting card, tags, envelopes etc. Has a noticeable physical feel. It' s always textured and embossed, not flat.
    These tags are really amazing.
